How to keep cats off furniture?
Odor Repellent Method
1. Citrus odor
Orange, lemon peel or diluted citrus essential oils (ensure that no additives) on the seat, cats hate this type of odor, but will not harm them.
2. Natural herbs
Peppermint, lavender or rosemary (dried or essential oils) sprinkled around the seat, these plants are safe for cats but have a natural repellent effect.

Tactile Disturbance Method
1. Lay down materials that cats hate
Aluminum foil, non-slip mats (plastic or sandpaper texture), low-tack double-sided tape - cats don't like smooth or sticky touch, so short-term laying is sufficient.
2. Soft spiky mat (harmless version)
Purchase a soft plastic anti-cat mat designed specifically for pets (such as “cat no-go area mat”), there are small bumps on the surface but will not hurt the claws.

Diversion
1. Provide more attractive elevated areas
Place a cat climbing frame, a cat hammock by the window or a high platform with toys next to the seat to satisfy the cat's instinct to climb up to the top.
2. Put things that cats hate near the seat
such as citrus-scented scented packets, and small amounts of coffee grounds (to be sealed in a small bag to avoid accidental ingestion).

Behavioral training
1. Timely stop + positive reward
When the cat approaches the seat, say “no” in a firm tone and guide it to the cat climbing frame; if it cooperates, give it a snack immediately.
2. Keep the seat “unattractive”.
Put away soft cushions or cover the seat with a tarp to reduce comfort.

Other tips
Ultrasonic cat repeller: Choose a pet-safe model and place it near the seat (be careful not to leave it on for long periods of time).
Regularly clean up cat odors: wipe the seat thoroughly with enzyme cleaner to eliminate odor marks left by cats.
