How to Help Cats and Dogs Live in Harmony
1. Isolation of cats and dogs
Top priority, when new members come to the home, they must be isolated from the original inhabitants. The two cannot be placed in a position where they can touch each other, and meeting each other must be supervised by the owner. The quarantine needs at least 1 week to 1 month
2. Later stage of isolation
After the two are familiar with the smell of another species in the home, they can be supervised by the owner to try to contact. Under supervision, let the two pets rub against each other or smell each other's body, and if you feel hostile immediately separate the two sides. Alternatively, they can be allowed to observe each other normally. After trying to contact, feed both sides snacks.
3. Don't leave them alone together
Even if the isolation is over, in front of you the two of them show harmony and do not fight, do not let your guard down, keep pets at home must be two separate to avoid accidents, at least 1-2 months after the observation of no problems.
4. Do not be biased
Feeding time, you must both feed together, and make sure that both babies can see. And don't keep praising and petting the cat in front of the dog, ignoring the dog, and so on. Otherwise even the best-tempered animals will get jealous.
5. Give the cat a higher family status
Dogs are social animals and follow the family hierarchy. If it thinks the cat is below its status, it may challenge the cat, not to mention that the cat is more likely to be bullied if it is smaller than the dog. So as much as possible, let the dog think that the cat's family status is higher than his own to avoid conflict. For example, feed small snacks, let the cat eat first, then let the dog eat.
6. The food bowl do not put together
Even if you feed together, the cat and dog food bowls should not be placed in one place. Cat bowls are placed in high places where the dog cannot reach.
