It is September, so I can't test this in freezing weather, but I did put some water in it and plugged it in. I checked it after a while and the bottom of the bowl seemed warmer than the water, so I assume it's working. There is no indicator light (which is intentional according to the paperwork that came with it) so I can't tell by that if it's working or not, but once winter comes I'll be able to tell for sure. I can say that it seems to be very good quality. The cable is covered with a flexible metal shield so animals can't damage it easily by chewing on it. The bowl itself feels solid and heavy. Shouldn't tip over easily.

I haven't had this undergo the harsh winters yet, but it keeps the water warm. I don't know if it'll keep up with single digit weather but I'll have to update it when winter hits. It holds a decent amount, but don't let the listing's pictures fool you, it's not nearly as big as they lead you to believe from the poorly photoshopped pictures. it's basic, but it should do the job.

This heated water bowl arrived a couple of days ago. This will really be helpful this winter. In the past years we had to break the ice and dump it from the water bowl daily and sometimes twice a day! This winter we won't have to do that. We tried the bowl out and I think our dog will love it. I know we will!

Except it's not cold enough to test if it really keeps my pet's water above freezing!In all seriousness this bowl is substantial and appears to be well built. If I remember, I'll jump back on in January and see if this water bowl is worth that final star.

I haven't been able to use this yet because it's not cold out enough for it. It looks really sturdy, and it's made of just one molded piece so it seems like it would be unlikely to leak or anything. The cord has a durable plastic around it, so hopefully that will keep any animals from chewing on it.
